Position Summary

This position has a main role on the Engineering Team focused on new part introduction. The core of your day will involve estimating, project management, process development, and working with the Manufacturing and Estimation Teams.

We are looking for a self-starter with leadership potential. You will need a solid understanding of CNC machining, other common manufacturing processes, and GD&T.

This is a hands-on position, requiring proven experience with solving manufacturing challenges related to CNC machining processes, several years of experience with milling, turning, and mill-turning operations, as well as advanced knowledge of CNC tooling.

Internal customers include engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Responsibilities

  • Developing process plans and instructions
  • Preparing documentation for new manufacturing processes
  • Preparing and creating engineering procedures, standards, and work instructions
  • Recommending technical design or process changes to improve efficiency, quality, or performance
  • Estimating operational costs for machined parts or components
  • Working with the Estimation team and sometimes leading quoting activities
  • Communicating manufacturing capabilities and production schedules to facilitate production processes
  • Providing technical expertise or support related to manufacturing
  • Implementing new manufacturing methods, equipment, or processes to improve operations
  • Reviewing part or component drawings and specifications for manufacturability or completeness
  • Preparing operational reports
  • Analyzing costs and benefits of proposed designs or projects
  • Evaluating production performance, including selection of manufacturing methods and fabrication
  • Providing manufacturability feedback to customers from quoting through the New Part Introduction process

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Two years of manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with G-Code and CAM Programming
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings
  • An understanding of CNC setup and machining cycle times
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques, tooling, and equipment
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

Desired Experience and Skills

  • A 4-year BS degree in Process, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering and 2-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Or 5+ years of Relevant Engineering Experience
  • 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Project Management Software like Smartsheet or Microsoft Project is a plus
  • Estimating software such as Paperless Parts
  • Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
